Project Brief
Old Oak Common Station will be a gateway to the capital, the UK and the rest of the world. It will provide direct interchange between high-speed rail and conventional rail services.
The station will have 14 platforms in total. Six high-speed platforms will be situated underground, within an 850m-long station box. A further eight platforms will be built to serve the conventional rail services that will use the station in west London. This includes exceptional cycling facilities, as well as EV charging facilities making up 16% of the parking facilities at the station. Further elements of the stations design reduce its operational reliance on energy, including an open plan layout with an atrium that allows for natural ventilation, and occupancy and daylight sensors that reduce demand for artificial light.
